Privacy Policy
Last updated October 31, 2026
This page explains what information Hire a Buddy collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep it simple: we collect what we need to connect Neighbors and Buddies, and we don’t sell your information.
What we collect
- Account details: your name, email, password (stored securely, never visible to us), account type, and for Buddies your date of birth to confirm you’re 18 or older.
- Profile details you choose to add: photo, bio, town or neighborhood, ZIP code, school, major, skills, availability and pay preferences.
- Activity on the site: jobs you post or respond to, messages, job offers, saved Buddies, reviews, and any reports or blocks you make.
What others can see
- Your public profile (name, photo, town, school, skills, availability and reviews) can be seen by visitors to the site.
- Your email, date of birth and ZIP code are not shown on your public profile.
- Messages are only visible to the people in the conversation.
- We ask everyone to share only a town or neighborhood, never a street address, on their profile or job posts.
How we use it
- To run the site: show profiles and jobs, deliver messages, and send account emails like sign-up confirmations.
- To keep people safe: review reports, enforce our Terms, and prevent fraud.
- To improve Hire a Buddy.
Who we share it with
We don’t sell your personal information. We use trusted service providers to run the site: Supabase (database and accounts), Vercel (website hosting) and Resend (email). They only use your information to provide their services to us. We may share information if the law requires it or to protect someone’s safety.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile any time on the My Profile page.
- To delete your account and data, email us at the address below.
Age
Hire a Buddy is only for people 18 and older. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date above and let you know about big changes on the site.
